Composite (“White”) Fillings

Rutland Dental Centre restores teeth using tooth-colored fillings that are made to match your natural tooth color very closely. These “composite” fillings are made of acrylic resin and very fine glass particles, and adhere to your natural tooth to produce both a strong and esthetic restoration. This same material can also be used in a procedure called “cosmetic bonding”. This process utilizes custom shades of composite to reshape teeth, repair chips, or close spaces, to give you a smile to be proud of in a very minimally invasive way.

Porcelain Veneers

While most dental procedures are offered to care for the overall health and strength of a person’s teeth, there are also procedures designed to address cosmetic needs. Dental veneers are an ultra-thin, yet durable, shell of porcelain custom made for each individual tooth to improve the shape, length, or shade of your teeth. Meticulous planning goes into designing your new smile, and we work very closely with our fantastic lab to ensure the ideal functional and esthetic outcome.

Crowns/Bridges

Dental crowns are custom designed caps placed on a tooth that is damaged. Crowns are placed for several reasons, such as:

  • To strengthen weak or structurally compromised teeth
  • To rebuild broken or cracked teeth
  • To protect teeth after root canal therapy
  • To improve misshapen or discolored teeth (cosmetic)
  • To top off a dental implant

Dental crowns can be made of a variety of materials, such as porcelain and gold, and the team at Rutland Dental Centre will review your options to decide what material is best suited for you.

A dental bridge is a way to utilize surrounding teeth (or implants) to replace or restore missing teeth. If you are a candidate for this form of tooth replacement, a bridge is a great long-term option to both restore your chewing function and restore your smile back to its original state.

Dentures

Dentures are artificial replacements for lost natural teeth and gums, as a result of accident, decay, or periodontal disease. There are two main types of dentures: a partial denture for patients who still have some natural teeth, or a complete denture for patients missing all their teeth. There are many options in fabricating the correct style of denture tailored to your needs, including flexible dentures or implant-supported dentures, and our team at Rutland Dental Centre would be happy to review these with you.

Root Canal Therapy

Root canal therapy can be performed when the nerve of your tooth becomes damaged or infected, and allows you to keep the tooth by eliminating pain and infection. Also called endodontic treatment, root canal therapy is the process of removing infected or dead pulp from within the tooth, disinfecting the canal system, and filling with gutta percha. By using modern techniques and equipment, root canal therapy can be completed both efficiently and comfortably. At Rutland Dental Centre, we believe that the best option is always to save your natural teeth, rather than having to pull it out. Keeping your tooth helps to prevent your other teeth from drifting out of line and potentially causing jaw problems.
