Comprehensive New Patient Exams (NPE)

Unless you have an immediate concern that needs to be addressed, your first visit with us will likely be for a comprehensive new patient exam. This appointment will typically be around 90 minutes, and you will meet one of our hygienists, at least one dental assistant, and the dentist. You can expect a cleaning, oral exam, x-rays, and a thorough discussion regarding all aspects of your oral health. We may also take some photos and a digital scan of your teeth at this visit too. Our team at Rutland Dental Centre believes that your oral health plays a vital role in your overall health, and so our goal is that you leave after your first visit with an understanding of any concerns we discovered and a treatment plan tailored to your needs and wishes.

Checkups / Hygiene Therapy

On average we recommend that you come see us every 6 months for a checkup and cleaning, but this interval may differ based on your individual needs. These visits include a cleaning with the hygienist, x-rays if needed, and a checkup by your dentist. Our goal is early detection of possible concerns with your teeth and gums, and regular checkups and cleanings gives us this opportunity.

Digital Radiographs

Digital radiographs, or x-rays, are taken using an electronic sensor that captures the image of your teeth and immediately transfers this image to our computer where it can be viewed. These images are an essential part of your dental exam and are used to help diagnose potential problems that we cannot see with the naked eye. Digital x-rays significantly decrease the radiation exposure compared to the already low exposure of traditional x-rays.

3D Cone Beam Computed Tomography (CBCT)

Rutland Dental Centre is proud to offer a state-of-the-art cone beam 3D imaging system. This technology allows us to take 3-dimensional images ranging from a single tooth right up to your entire jaw and airway system. These images allow for precise diagnosis and treatment planning for things such as root canal treatment, dental implants, wisdom tooth removal, jaw joint problems, and obstructive sleep apnea. Our system can capture images incredibly fast, therefore emitting less radiation for a healthier and quicker process.

Digital Scanner / Digital Impressions

By utilizing an incredibly fast and accurate optical scanner, we can eliminate the need for messy impressions. Our intraoral scanner can be used to capture impressions for things such as nightguards, crowns/bridges, and orthodontic appliances. In addition, this 3D digital impression of your teeth can be fused with your 3D radiograph for fabrication of implant guides for safe and precise implant placements.

Nightguards / Occlusal Splints

Nightguards are hard, thin acrylic shells that are custom made to fit on your teeth and typically worn at night. You may be recommended a nightguard for protection because you clench or grind your teeth while sleeping. There are different styles of nightguards available, and our team will discuss the options with you and decide what type of nightguard is best suited for your needs.
